About Us
The purpose of The Friends of India Foundation
The Friends of India Foundation was founded by Poovelingam Solomon in 1977 and helps bring spiritual, health and education knowledge to the people in India. Over the last 30+ years, The Friends of India Foundation has helped over 1000 men, women and children. It continues to strive to help enrich the lives of all those it has touched over the years.
How the foundation began
In 1977, Poovelingam moved to the USA with his family, like many other Indians. While establishing his family economically, Poovelingam never forgot his strong conviction that led him to go back to India to serve its people and be faithful to the commitment he made to Jesus in 1961. He reflected on the life of Moses, Buddha, Jesus and Mahatma Gandhi and realized that they all could have lived in their comfort zones, yet instead they chose to serve their people. He felt that many of the Indians who have come to the U.S for a better life should not forget the needs of the people in their home country. He believed that to serve the people of India, it would be best to integrate the knowledge and wisdom they have learned from around the world and use that knowledge and wisdom to serve our people. Poovelingam personally felt compelled to make his contribution to India in the areas of spirituality, health and education; and set up The Friends of India Foundation to inspire Indian friends in the USA to join him.
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
